Celebration of Russia Day.
12 June every year is the Russia Day, It is the national holiday of the Russian Federation. It has been celebrated annually on June 12 since 1992. It commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) on June 12, 1990. The passage of this Declaration by the First Congress of People's Deputies marked the beginning of constitutional reform in the Russian Soviet state.
It is to be noted that Many people thinks that this holiday is Russia's Independence Day, but the holiday has never had such a name in official documents. According to the survey of Levada Center in May 2003, 65 percent of the respondents named the holiday as the Independence Day of Russia.

Today, It’s the birthday of Vinayaka Krishna Gokak. Born on 9 August 1909, Gokak was a major writer in the Kannada language and a scholar of English and Kannada literatures. Amrita Pritam, born on 31 August 1919  was an Indian writer and poet, who wrote in Punjabi and Hindi.She is considered the first prominent woman Punjabi poet, novelist, and essayist, and the leading 20th-century poet of the Punjabi language, who is equally loved on both sides of the India-Pakistan border.
